Nov 2017 - A standing ovation hailed Mr. Vic Johnson as he received the Bourbonnais Grove Historical Society’s first Fleur-de-lis Award of Excellence on November 3 at the Kankakee Country Club. The award was presented to Mr. Johnson for his outstanding contribution in the
preservation of colonial French, French-Canadian, and Belgian heritage in the Kankakee and Iroquois river valleys. The award was presented to Mr. Johnson by his daughter, Ms. Laurel Soper, Past President of the Bourbonnais Grove Historical Society (BGHS).
May 2015 - State of Illinois designates stretch of I-57 as French Canadian Historic Corridor. Read the resolutiondrafted by the Kankakee County Historic Preservation Commission and sponsored by State Representative Kate Cloonen.
